Alabama Launched Statewide Campaign on ATV Safety
There’s a renewed focus by the Alabama Department of Public Health on the dangers of All Terrain Vehicles.
State officials launched a statewide educational campaign July10 to warn citizens about the dangers of allowing anyone under age 16 to ride the vehicles.
State Health Officer Don Williamson said in Alabama, ATV accidents over the past eight years have killed six children and severely injured another 211.
Health officials say, based on reports from coroners and hospitals, the problem is getting worse.
Alabama is among three states that have no laws regulating the use of ATVs.
