Florida CFO Race Down to Wire
On “day minus one and counting” in the race for Florida Chief Financial Officer, both camps are optimistic in the face of a contest separated by only a few points, according to recent polls.
Tara Klimek, communications director for Democratic candidate Alex Sink, said Sink’s team is “on pins and needles.”
“We aren’t taking anything for granted,” Klimek said. “We’re happy with how things are going, but voter turnout is the key.”
Republican Candidate Tom Lee’s communication director, Kathy Mears said Lee’s camp is looking forward to a great turnout.
“Two recent polls show us ahead by three or four points,” Mears said. “We’re feeling a lot of enthusiasm.”
Mears referred to a Miami Herald poll showing Lee ahead of Sink by a margin of four points at 44 percent to 40 percent, while nearly the reverse was true a week ago.
Many eyes are on this race considering the CFO reins over the Florida Insurance Commissioner and the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.
