Hotel Payments for Hurricane Katrina Evacuees Run Out Tomorrow
Beginning tomorrow, thousands of evacuees from Hurricane Katrina will have to pay their own hotel bills or find another place to stay.
That’s when the Federal Emergency Management Agency stops paying for motel or hotel rooms.
Officials with FEMA say they are confident the deadline will NOT trigger a wave of homeless storm survivors. But people who work at social services agencies aren’t so sure that these evacuees have lined up apartments or other places to live.
