Two More Albany, Ga. Sanitation Workers Arrested in Insurance Scam
Two more City of Albany sanitation workers have been arrested in a huge insurance scam ring. Their arrests bring to 14 the number of people arrested since last Thursday.
Jonathan West surrendered on Tuesday morning to face insurance fraud charges; while a co-worker, Larry Stephens, was arrested while in a courtroom on an unrelated matter Tuesday morning.
So far, six City of Albany sanitation workers and an Albany Water, Gas and Light meter department workers are accused of being part of a network of family, friends and co-workers who filed bogus insurance claims with AFLAC for more than a year and a half.
Dougherty Sheriff’s Investigators say nearly $200,000 has been paid to those arrested.
The other city employees have bonded out of jail are back on he job.
