FAIA Management, Automation Training Seminar Participants to Discuss Agency Concerns, Workflow

Automation workflow, practical leadership, technical agency valuation, automation management, incentive compensation, recruiting, sales management and a wide range of other agency concerns will be discussed by some of the nation’s best and brightest speakers during the Oct. 16-18 “Management and Automation Training Seminar” sponsored by the Florida Association of Insurance Agents Oct. 16-18 at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Fla. During the event table-top vendors will showing their latest products.

During Oct. 16 early-bird breakout sessions Brian Leibow, FAIA information systems administrator will discuss “Setting Up and Securing a Wireless Network for Your Home or Office;” Lisa H. Harrington will discuss, “Finding the Perfect Employee (or, Fishing in an Empty Pond);” and Bob Larrivee will give a session on “Document Management Technology: Considerations and Impact on Consumers.”

FAIA Chairman-elect Veronica Della Porta will kick off the Oct. 17 general session with a presentation about “FAIA, Today and Beyond,” during which the ACT video, “Agent-Carrier Real-Time Interface—A Critical Move Forward in Efficiency and Productivity” will be screened.

Della Porta’s presentation will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Tom Cotton, past FAIA chairman on “Technology … An Investment or a Headache?” Carolyn Durland, Mike Mansperger, Janice Sheffield, Dick Brown, Hayward Brown and Ed Higgins will participate in the panel.

Presentations will follow by Joel Blackwell, “Personal Political Power;” and Steve Clark, “Dominate Your Market By Building An Awesome Selling Machine.”

A networking lunch with table-top vendors will be held from 11:30 to 12:45 p.m., followed from 1 to 3 p.m. by concurrent breakout sessions “On Target for Your Agency.” Four topics covered will include a presentation by Steve Clark on “Ten Cardinal Sins Producers Commit … and What to Do About Them;” Paul Peeples, FAIA’s vice president of Information & Technology will discuss “How to Manage Your Complex Day Using Microsoft Outlook 2000;” Richard Roy, AFNI Insurance Services will take a look at disaster plans and ask, “Does Your Disaster Plan Include Business Continuity;” and Bob Larrivee will moderate a session on “Document Management Technology: Considerations and Impact on Consumers.”

A 3 to 3:30 p.m. break with table-top vendors will be followed by 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. concurrent breakout sessions “On-Target for Your Agency. Topics will include “Managing the Bottom Line,” presented by Andy Gray and Jeff Barbacci of Thomas Howell Ferguson; “What You Should Know About Business Continuity Recovery Planning,” by Paul Sullivan; “Remote Desktop Configuration and Usage,” by Mike Mansperger;” and “Grass Roots Lobbying for Volunteers,” by Joel Blackwell.

Oct. 18 morning sessions will feature user group interaction from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast and vendor training.

Concurrent breakout sessions will be held from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. on “So You Want to Go Paperless,” by Jay Williams, managing director of FAIA member Services; “Automation Techniques to the Rescue—Allow Microsoft Word to Do Your Work for You,” by Sheri Tingle; and “Key Considerations in Disaster Planning and Management for Insurance Agents,” by Paul Peeples.
