BIG Founder Celebrates Milestones

Bankers Insurance Group of St. Petersburg, Fla. announced that founder and chairman Bob Menke, recently celebrated his 70th birthday along with Bankers’ 30th anniversary.

Perhaps best known for being the owner of one of the first companies to enter the Federal Flood Program, Menke was also the Florida Association of Domestic Insurance Companies “Man of the Year” in 1986; is a member of the Society of International Business Fellows; and has been involved in a wide range of local and national organizations, ranging from the University of Florida President’s Council to the National Association of Independent Insurers.

Among those in attendance at the celebration were: former Governor, J. Wayne Mixson; former St Petersburg mayor, Robert L Ulrich; chairman of Bankers’ board of directors, David Nye, PhD; judge, Irene Sullivan; legislative lobbyists, Gary Guzzo and Billy Galloway; as well as a plethora of personal friends from across the state.

Menke was presented with a proclamation from the City of St. Petersburg and two scrapbooks of letters, pictures and well wishes. Contributors to the scrapbook ranged from Bankers’ employees and local civic leaders to Florida governor, Jeb Bush, and the President of the United States.
