BB&T’s CRC to Acquire Piedmont Brokerage Services

CRC Insurance Services Inc., based in Winston-Salem, N.C. and the wholesale insurance subsidiary of Branch Banking and Trust Company, announced plans to buy professional liability specialist Piedmont Brokerage Services LLC of High Point, N.C.

Piedmont Brokerage Services will operate from its Eastchester Drive office as part of CRC’s professional liability unit. BB&T acquired Birmingham, Ala.-based CRC on Jan. 1.

The transaction, the terms of which were not disclosed, is expected to be completed in October.

Piedmont Brokerage Services’ specialty lines include liability coverage for directors and officers, errors and omissions policies, and employment practices liability.
