Louisiana Man Arrested for Auto Insurance Fraud
A Louisiana man was arrested this week on a charge of insurance fraud for allegedly burning his pickup truck.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Andronicus Edison, 58, of Palmetto after the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal’s (SFM) Fire Investigation Unit (FIU) investigated the vehicle fire.
According to SFM investigators, a fire destroyed Edison’s 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck on May 22, 2026 in Natchez, Mississippi. Edison had the vehicle towed to his home in St. Landry Parish before filing a fraudulent claim with his insurance company, investigators said.
After uncovering evidence of insurance fraud, the FIU obtain a warrant for Edison’s arrest.
The Louisiana Department of Insurance and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
The LDI is continuing its efforts to hold bad actors accountable, protect policyholders and reduce insurance fraud, which is a cost driver for our already high insurance premiums in Louisiana,” said Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple. “I appreciate the hard work done by our partners at the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.”
