Former New Orleans Sewerage & Water Board Employee Arrested for Comp Fraud
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Special Agents arrested a former employee with the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans on December 20 for allegedly committing workers’ compensation fraud.
On August 27, 2024, LBI Special Agents received a complaint from a representative of the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans. The complaint alleged that a former employee might have knowingly committed Workers Compensation Fraud.
Special Agents conducted a criminal investigation into the complaint and obtained an overwhelming amount of evidence that Ederik Trask of Lake Avenue in Metairie was employed by a rideshare company while obtaining Workers Compensation benefits.
Special Agents secured an arrest warrant for Trask for violations of Louisiana law, prohibited acts as defined by L.R.S. 23:1208 C.1, Misrepresentations Concerning Benefits over $10,000.
On December 20, 2024, Trask surrendered to agents at the Orleans Parish Jail where he was placed under arrest and booked without incident.
An investigation is ongoing.
