Texas Division of Workers’ Comp Seeks Input on MQRP rule changes
The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) said it is accepting public comments on a proposed rule amending 28 Texas Administrative Code §180.62, concerning the Medical Quality Review Panel (MQRP). The Legislature enacted Texas Labor Code §413.05122 under House Bill 2605, which became effective on September 1, 2011.
The proposed amendments change the 10-year lifetime maximum service limit with multiple two-year terms for membership on the MQRP, to a 10-year maximum term to more closely align with the language and intent of the statute. They provide for periodic review of members during their terms, and require members whose terms are expiring to submit new applications for membership on the MQRP. The amendments also update statutory references and make editorial changes for plain language and agency style.
The proposed rule will be published in the July 15, 2022, issue of the Texas Register and will be available on the Secretary of State’s website.
