Texas Insurance Department Warns of Fake Text Scams
The Texas Department of Insurance said fake text messages claiming to be from the agency have been reported. Texas residents should beware of these text messages, TDI said.
Scam artists can make phone numbers appear to be from agencies, legitimate businesses, or other trusted sources. TDI received a report of a text message that claimed to be from the agency. The text said the recipient should review and sign a “priority document” by clicking a link in the text.
TDI doesn’t call or send texts to people who haven’t applied for a license, filed a complaint, or done other business with the agency.
If you receive a suspicious text or call that appears to be from TDI, notify us at 800-252-3439.
