Tornado in Arkansas on Sunday Injured 4 People, Destroyed Homes

A tornado in northeast Arkansas on Nov. 15 left four people injured and destroyed buildings and mobile homes, authorities said.

The severe weather Sunday was near Romance, an unincorporated community about 23 miles (37 kilometers) west of Searcy, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. No deaths were reported.

White County Sheriff Phillip Miller said in a phone interview that the four injured people were hospitalized for evaluation. One woman suffered broken bones and bruises, he said.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock tweeted on Sunday that the tornado rated a 1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, with estimated peak winds of 86 to 110 mph and a path length of 2 miles (3.22 kilometers). The tornado occurred about 1:15 a.m., according to the agency.

Miller said about 15 structures were damaged. Some of them were “completely destroyed,” he added.
