Unemployment Claims on Rise in Louisiana
First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending Oct. 15 increased from the previous week’s total.
The state labor department figures show the initial claims rose to 2,674 from the previous week’s total of 2,558. For the comparable week a year earlier, there were 2,338.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, increased to 2,514 from the previous week’s average of 2,446.
The four-week moving average for such claims decreased to 24,712 from the previous week’s average of 25,439.
