Texas Windstorm Insurance Assoc. Expert Panel to Meet April 14
The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association expert panel will hold a public meeting this week to inform the public about the progress of the panel’s work, to allow the public to observe the panel discussing its work, and to give the public an opportunity to comment and ask questions.
During this meeting, the expert panel will highlight key findings from the peer review, conducted Feb. 5 through March 2, 2016, and discuss the panel’s response to those findings.
Based on the peer reviews, the expert panel will present any refinements or enhancements made to its proposed method or model and recommendations for determining the extent to which a loss to TWIA-insured property may be or was incurred as a result of wind, waves, tidal surges, or rising waters not caused by waves or surges.
As required by House Bill 3, 82nd Legislature (2011), the commissioner will consider the Expert Panel’s recommendations and publish guidelines that TWIA must use to settle claims.
The meeting takes place April 14 beginning at 2 p.m. at the William P. Hobby Jr. State Office Building; 333 Guadalupe Street, Room 102; Austin, Texas.
