Texas Yogurt Company Founder Gets 5 Years in Prison for Arson

The founder of a popular yogurt company is in prison after admitting he set the business ablaze in a fit of anger over investors’ handling of the company.

The Dallas Morning News reports a judge has sentenced 56-year-old Edgar Diaz to five years in prison for arson. He also has been ordered to pay $1.5 million in restitution.

Diaz formed Three Happy Cows in 2010. His attorney, Laura Harper, said he became the company’s part-owner on a handshake but was cut out of his own business by outside investors who sold it to Tyson Foods.

Harper said Diaz was upset after learning his company had been sold to Tyson. He pleaded guilty in 2014 to using gasoline to set the yogurt company’s production plant on fire in March 2013.
