Arkansas Governor-Elect Names Kerr as Next Insurance Commissioner
Arkansas Gov.-Elect Asa Hutchinson has announced that state Rep. Allen Kerr will be the new state insurance commissioner.
Kerr has been a Farmers Insurance agent for more than 30 years and along with his wife owns the Allen Kerr Agency in the Little Rock area. He has spent six years in the state legislature and because of term limits sat out the recent election cycle. He began his political career when he was elected to the 15-member Pulaski County Quorum Court.
Hutchinson cited Kerr’s experience in the Legislature and knowledge of the insurance industry. He said Kerr will bring a “fresh look” to the department.
Kerr will replace current Insurance Commissioner Jay Bradford.
Hutchinson was elected governor in November and will take office in January.
