Magnitude 4.0 Earthquake Recorded in Oklahoma
The U.S. Geological Survey has reported a magnitude 4.0 earthquake near Medford, Okla.
The earthquake happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. about 20 miles east of Enid and 17 miles southeast of Medford.
A Grant County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher tells The Oklahoman the office hadn’t received any calls concerning the earthquake or damage.
Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest that are felt by humans. Damage is not likely at magnitudes below 4.0.
