4.2 Magnitude Quake Strikes near Guthrie, Oklahoma
The U.S. Geological Survey has recorded two earthquakes near Guthrie, including a magnitude 4.2 temblor.
The USGS said the 4.2 magnitude quake was recorded at 3:08 p.m. on Sept. 15 one mile southeast of Guthrie and a 3.2 magnitude quake was recorded at 3:14 p.m. the same day about three miles south of Guthrie.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office and Guthrie police say there are no reports of injury or damage.
The area is about 30 miles northeast of Oklahoma City.
Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest that are felt by humans and damage is not likely at magnitudes below 4.0.
