Pamplona-Style Bull Run in Texas Leaves 1 Hospitalized

One person was briefly treated at a hospital and several others suffered minor injuries during a Pamplona-style bull running event held in suburban Houston, Texas.

The Great Bull Run mirrors the annual running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, where people run in front of a herd of toros let loose in the streets. Organizers say they toned down the U.S. version by creating escape routes for runners and blunting the animal’s horn tips.

The Houston Chronicle reported that at Saturday’s event in Baytown, 21-year-old Hugo Soto was treated for head injuries at a local hospital after being trampled. He was released a few hours later.

Organizers say 3,500 people participated in Saturday’s bull run.

The organizers held two bull runs last year in Virginia and Georgia.
