Lubbock Settles Woman’s Texas Tech Injury Claim For $80K
The city of Lubbock has agreed to pay $80,000 in a settlement with a woman injured when she stepped into a hole on her way out of a Texas Tech football game.
The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported that the Lubbock City Council approved the settlement last week for Eva Montez.
Montez sued the city after she was hurt in Nov. 2010 leaving a Texas Tech game. She alleged that she stepped into a hole left when workers removed a utility pole next to a sidewalk.
The hole was estimated at 4 to 5 feet deep.
The settlement also calls on the city to pay up to $10,000 in mediation fees, court costs and interest.
