Oklahoma Man Pleads Guilty To Arson-Related Fraud
A Broken Arrow, Okla. man has pleaded guilty to a federal mail fraud charge that authorities say is related to an alleged arson at an east Tulsa self-storage facility.
The Tulsa World reported that a plea agreement has been filed in federal court in Tulsa by 20-year-old Duvante R. Patterson. Patterson acknowledges in the agreement that he submitted a fraudulent insurance claim after the May 16, 2012, blaze.
Patterson was also charged with arson in an indictment filed on July 11. He states in his plea agreement that he was responsible for the fire, a fact he failed to disclose on his insurance claim.
No one was injured, but five storage units were heavily damaged and several others received at least some damage.
Sentencing is set for Feb. 11.
