‘Friday Night Lights’ Star Featured in PSAs Supporting Texas Firefighters
Actor Kyle Chandler has taped public service announcements for Texas volunteer fire departments needing money after an intense year of wildfires.
Chandler, who plays a West Texas football coach in the television series “Friday Night Lights,” recently taped the spots in the Austin area.
Officials with the State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas announced the PSAs, which will begin airing this fall. The spots are called “We Care” and “Become a Volunteer Firefighter.”
The association says the Texas Wildfire Relief Fund is meant to support about 1,400 volunteer departments. Firefighters often use their own money to buy safety equipment and supplies.
The Texas Forest Service says wildfires since November have burned nearly 3.5 million acres.
