La. First-Time Unemployment Claims Increase
First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending Aug. 6 increased from the previous week’s total.
The state labor department figures released Friday show the initial claims increased to 4,033 from the previous week’s total of 3,857. The figure was lower than it was for the comparable week a year earlier, when there were 4,305 initial claims.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, decreased to 4,103 from the previous week’s total of 4,108.
Continued unemployment claims claimed for the week ending Aug. 6 totaled 48,392, an increase from 48,216 the previous week. The four-week moving average for such claims increased to 48,480 from 8,194.
