Earthquake Rattles Parts of Oklahoma

An earthquake has rattled parts of central Oklahoma and was felt as far away as southern Kansas.

There are no reports of damage or injury.

Geophysicist Don Blakeman with the National Earthquake Information Center said the earthquake struck at 9:06 a.m with a preliminary magnitude of 4.5. The quake was centered about six miles east of Norman.

He said the quake was felt as far away as Wichita, Kan.

Norman police Capt. Leonard Judy said no injuries and only minor damage is reported. Judy said the quake sent officers running out of the department to see if someone had crashed into the building.

KGOU in Norman reports that University of Oklahoma officials have cordoned off Dale Hall. Students, faculty and staff members are standing outside the campus classroom and office building.
