Oklahoma Senate Committee Approves Day Care Insurance Bill

April 4, 2008

A bill to require day care centers to carry liability insurance has cleared an Oklahoma Senate committee.

The bill called Demarion’s Law recently cleared the Senate Rules Committee and goes to the full Senate for action.

The legislation is named for 3-year-old Demarion Pittman who was accidentally left in a day care van and his body temperature was 117 degrees when he was found.

His parents say the center didn’t have insurance and they now face millions of dollars in medical bills.

The bill has already passed in the House.
