Insurance Fraud Expert from La. AG’s Office Picked for Inspector General

Louisiana’s Gov.-elect Bobby Jindal picked a lawyer in the state attorney general’s office as Louisiana’s new inspector general, a position intended to investigate executive branch fraud and waste.

Stephen Street, 43, has been chief of the attorney general’s insurance fraud unit since 2000. He is the office’s representative to the National White Collar Crime Center, and an instructor for that group on financial investigations and financial records examination.

Street got his law degree from LSU and has been a lawyer for 18 years, working as a trial lawyer, a public defender and a criminal staff attorney for the state 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal in Lake Charles.

He will replace Sharon Robinson, who was appointed by Gov. Kathleen Blanco in 2005
