Officials Warn of Health Care Scam Targeting Ark. Veterans
The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System is warning veterans of a scam in which a caller pretends to be from an insurance company to get credit card numbers and other personal information from veterans.
Officials say a veteran in central Arkansas reported receiving a call in which he was asked to confirm personal information and verify a list of medications. The caller then asked for a credit card number, saying it was needed because of a “new co-pay” requirement.
Veterans Administration officials say credit card or financial information will never be asked for over the phone.
