Workplace Safety Seminar Set for Oct. 19 in Houston
The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation will present a one-day educational seminar on Safety Inspection and Accident Investigation, on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The seminar will take place at the Embassy Suites, Embassy Room 2, 9090 SW Freeway, Houston, Texas. The cost is $99 per person.
Hazard recognition, prevention, and control are key elements of any good safety program. This course provides an overview of the safety inspection process and participants will learn how to evaluate their safety program, identifying current, as well as potential problems, and use the results to focus company resources on promoting safety.
An effective accident investigation is a systematic process of recording what happened, who was involved, the resulting injuries, and concludes with determining the causes and eliminating them. This program provides employers and employees the tools necessary to work together to conduct accident investigations.
This seminar will provide information on the following topics:

* what are the various types of inspections;
* how to build an effective inspection program;
* how to choose effective inspectors;
* how to perform an inspection;
* why accidents occur and the role of the investigator;
