Tulsa School Bus Drivers Taken Off Duty for Suspended Licenses

Nine employees in Tulsa have been taken off school bus-driving duty after a school district review showed that their licenses were suspended, officials said.

The suspended licenses were revealed in the latest driving records check of the more than 300 district bus drivers.

Seven of the nine drivers had suspended licenses because of security verification or insurance violations involving their personal vehicles, officials reported.

The school district checks bus drivers’ records each January and September, but district spokesman John Hamill said the second check will be done in August from now on to catch any potential problems before the start of the school year.

Hamill said the drivers will not be allowed to drive school buses until their licenses have been reinstated.
