Texas Watch Launches Insurance Reform Web Site
The consumer group Texas Watch unveiled a new Web site designed to help consumers participate in the legislative debate on insurance reform. Through the Web site at www.fixtexasinsurance.org, the group will provide insurance reform proposals, tips and tools to contact legislators, and newsletters with updates on legislative activities and actions, according to the Associated Press
Texas Watch executive director Dan Lambe said Texas policyholders are invited to visit the Web site and find out how they can fight rising insurance rates and make their voice heard over the insurance industry lobby.
While insurance industry groups contend that competition is the key to keeping insurance available and cost-effective, Texas Watch’s agenda calls for regulation of all insurance companies, a ban on the use of credit scoring, the widespread availability of standard coverage, and prompt and fair handling of claims.
