State National Continues to Expand

State National Companies, based in Fort Worth, Texas, said its subsidiaries State National Specialty Insurance Company and State National Insurance Company (SNIC) have received new state authorizations. SNIC has now been authorized by 48 states and 36 states have approved State National Specialty.

Effective September 2002, the state of Hawaii awarded State National Specialty Insurance Company a certificate of authority for writing multiple lines of insurance, including casualty, marine and property insurance. This makes the sixth state authorization for State National Specialty this year and the fifteenth since being acquired by State National Companies in March of 1999.

Vermont awarded approval to SNIC, effective September 2002, for writing fire; allied coverages; hail (growing crops only); rain; inland marine; ocean marine; aircraft; automobile; liability other than auto; accident; health; workers’ compensation & employers’ liability; glass; burglary & theft; forgery; boiler & machinery; fidelity; surety; livestock; prepaid legal services; and reinsurance on all lines authorized to be written on a direct basis.
