Okla. Approves Three New Insurers

Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher has approved certificates of authority for three new insurance companies to operate in the state. He noted that more than 200 insurers have entered Oklahoma since he took office in 1999.

“By attracting companies to do business in the state, we are fighting for Oklahoma consumers,” Fisher said. “Ultimately, competition is the best way to keep insurance rates in check.”

A broad range of companies has been licensed during Fisher’s tenure, ranging from traditional homeowners insurers to service warranty associations. A total of 218 entities have received licensing during Fisher’s tenure.

The Oklahoma Insurance Department currently regulates 1,826 entities, which includes insurance companies, surplus lines’ brokers, prepaid funeral trusts and service warranty associations.
