Dallas-Based Company Awarded Contract with Ohio’s BWC

ACS, a Dallas-based provider of business process and information technology outsourcing solutions, has been awarded a one-year contract with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) to provide pharmacy benefit management (PBM) services. The contract is valued at $4.5 million if all four, one-year contract renewal options are exercised.

ACS will perform on-line adjudication of medication bills at the point of service, ensure that medications reimbursed are medically necessary, implement a prior authorization system, contract and administer a BWC-specific network, perform prospective, concurrent, and retrospective drug utilization review, and provide ad- hoc management reporting.

The state’s workers’ compensation program is an injury-specific insurance fund administered by Ohio for state employers and workers. BWC is responsible for making payments for medical treatment, supplies, and services rendered to an injured worker when such treatment is necessary. ACS’ PBM services will assist the state in carrying out the Bureau’s work.
