Chubb Continues Promotion Spree in North American Operations
Chubb today announced an additional handful of promotions within its North America insurance operations, with Ana Robic and Ben Rockwell getting appointed senior vice president of Chubb Group.
Robic is division president, North America personal risk services, and Rockwell is division president, North America middle market. Each will retain their current responsibilities and report to Juan Luis Ortega and Scott Meyer.
Ortega and Meyer were part of a group of promotions announced yesterday.

In addition, Jason Ranucci has been named head of North America lower middle market and will have overall responsibilities for the strategy, underwriting, and P&L for the lower middle market segment. Ranucci was global chief underwriting officer of small commercial and will continue these underwriting responsibilities as he has since joining Chubb last year from Travelers. He will report to Rockwell.
Ranucci succeeds, Jeffrey Updyke, who was named to the newly created position of executive vice president, North America commercial insurance & digital distribution. Updyke will be charged with expanding Chubb’s reach and influence in the lower middle market and small commercial segments through the insurer’s broker distribution partners.
John DePeters has been appointed chief underwriting officer, small commercial. He joined Chubb (then ACE) in 2013 as a casualty underwriter.

Robic was named to her current position in 2021 and previously served as chief operating officer of the business, which she assumed in 2017. Prior to that, Robic was executive vice president, national commercial insurance leader, for Chubb in Canada. She joined Chubb in 1999.
Rockwell was appointed division president, North America middle market, in 2019 after his time as chief underwriting officer of North America commercial insurance. Rockwell began his career with Chubb in 1997 as a casualty claims representative and in 1999 became an underwriter.

Also today, Chubb said David Lupica, currently chief operating and distribution management officer at Westchester, has been named vice president of Chubb Group and division president of Westchester.
Lupica will have executive operating responsibility for Chubb’s wholesale excess and surplus lines business in North America. He succeeds Scott Meyer, who yesterday was promoted to SVP of Chubb Group and chief operating officer of North American insurance as part of several leadership changes in Chubb’s North America insurance business unit.
Lupica has more than 30 years of industry experience, joining ACE in 2000 as executive vice president of ACE USA’s Professional Risk Division. He was appointed chief operating officer of Westchester in 2016.
Westchester writes $4 billion in premiums annually, Chubb said.
