People Moves: Schaper Now AIG Global Chief Underwriting Officer; Brough Head of Aspen Marketing, US Distribution; Giannisis is HUB N.A. Property Practice Leader
American International Group said Christopher Schaper, currently CEO of AIG Re, has been named global chief underwriting officer of AIG, effective as of the closing of the previously announced sale of Validus Re to RenaissanceRe, which is expected to occur in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Schaper will report to Peter Zaffino, chairman and CEO of AIG.
Schaper is currently CEO of AIG Re, the global reinsurance business of AIG, as well as CEO of Validus Re and AlphaCat. He joined AIG in 2019 from Marsh McLennan, where he was CEO of Victor Insurance Holdings, Marsh’s global underwriting MGA. Prior to that, Schaper served as president of Montpelier Re Ltd and underwriting chairman of Blue Capital, Montpelier’s capital markets entity.
Aspen Appoints Brough Head of Marketing and U.S. Distribution
Brough has been with Aspen since 2017 and led Aspen’s re-branding efforts in 2021. She previously served in several roles at Prudential Financial, including product manager, new initiatives.
HUB Appoints Giannisis North American Property Practice Leader
Hub International Limited, headquartered in Chicago, Ill., appointed Blake Giannisis as the North American property practice leader.
Before joining HUB, Giannisis spent over two decades at some of the industry’s largest global brokerages and, most recently, served as a national property broking officer at Aon. He has also previously served as a senior vice president at both Wells Fargo Insurance Services and Marsh.
