Everest Insurance Appoints Maritzen Global Chief Underwriting Officer

Everest Insurance, the insurance division of Everest Re Group, Ltd., has named Mark Maritzen as global chief underwriting officer. Maritzen is based in New York.

Maritzen will oversee all aspects of global underwriting for Everest Insurance. Martizen has over 25 years of industry experience, most recently at Berkshire Hathaway Re, managing and underwriting all property program business.

Before that, he was chief underwriting officer for Property North America at AIG. He also served as head of U.S. property for both Endurance Insurance/Sompo International and Tokio Marine Global and has held positions at Guy Carpenter and Marsh.

Maritzen replaces Mike Mulray, recently appointed President of North America Insurance.

One80 Intermediaries Appoints Swearengin as National Casualty Practice Leader

One80 Intermediaries has appointed Blake Swearengin as national casualty practice leader.

Swearengin has 17 years of insurance experience and previously served as vice president, casualty broker at Amwins.

One80 is based in Boston, Massachusetts.

QBE North America Names Haggerty Head of Commercial Programs

QBE North America has promoted James Haggerty to head of commercial programs. Haggerty most recently served as SVP, underwriting governance for QBE North America.

Haggerty has nearly 30 years of insurance industry experience – 25 at QBE and its acquired companies. Before his six years as the underwriting governance leader, Haggerty served as the product and underwriting leader for two of QBE’s business units. He also has experiencHaggerty holds a B.S. from the University of Maine.
