Liberty Mutual Appoints Maria Grace to New Role of Global Product Leader, Property

Liberty Mutual Insurance has appointed Maria Grace as global product leader, property, effective January 3, 2023. Grace will be responsible for the profit and loss of property across the global commercial and specialty (re)insurer. She will set global product strategy, monitor the overall performance of the portfolio and partner with the chief underwriting officer supporting each GRS business unit.

Before joining GRS, Grace served as global chief underwriting officer, property, and head of international property at the Everest Re Group. She brings more than 15 years of experience and expertise in the property space. Liberty is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.

Canopius Hires Graff to Oversee Actuarial Reserving

Global specialty reinsurer Canopius Group said it has hired Ruchama Graff to serve as US Head of Actuarial.

Graff will oversee actuarial reserving functions and technical pricing for business underwritten in the US and Bermuda markets. Graff will report to Lisa Davis, chief executive, US and Bermuda.

Graff brings more than 15 years of actuarial and insurance leadership experience to her new role. Most recently, Graff served as actuary, Global Specialty and Global Reinsurance Reserving for The Hartford Financial Services Group. Prior to her position at The Hartford, Graff held actuarial leadership positions at The Navigators Group and Liberty International Underwriters.

Dresner to Succeed Blackburn as Everspan President

Everspan Group, a specialty property and casualty insurance platform owned by Ambac Financial Group said Steven K. Dresner has been appointed president of Everspan, succeeding Wyatt Blackburn, who has retired.

Blackburn will assume the role of vice chairman of Everspan Holdings and become a member of the Everspan Holdings Board of Directors.

Dresner joined Everspan in July 2020 as chief underwriting and reinsurance officer. He has nearly four decades of experience working in program business and surplus lines. Prior to Everspan, Dresner was senior vice president at Crum & Forster, overseeing business development and ceded reinsurance. He also spent 10 years with Endurance Specialty Holdings, where he was executive vice president and head of brokerage for Endurance Specialty Underwriters as well as senior vice president and head of casualty treaty for Endurance Reinsurance Corporation of America.
