Gallagher Denied Restraining Order Against Alliant

District Court Judge Martha M. Pacold has denied Arthur J. Gallagher’s request for a temporary restraining order against rival Alliant Insurance Services as part of a lawsuit Gallagher filed against Alliant alleging employee and client stealing.

According to a docket entry filed by a court clerk in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Illinois, Gallagher’s motion for a temporary restraining order was denied following a call-in hearing. The short docket entry did not outline the reasons for the denial.

Late last month, Gallagher filed a lawsuit against Alliant for allegedly plotting to steal steal employees and clients. Eight female employees suddenly resigned over several days earlier in July in a move Gallagher called a “corporate raid” by Alliant. As part of the lawsuit, Gallagher sought a temporary restraining order against Alliant.

The brokers subsequently traded court filings. Alliant accused Gallagher of “rampant sexism, discrimination, and unfair treatment of women,” which led to the most recent resignations.

“The only thing Gallagher can prove Alliant did is hire Gallagher’s employees and offer them better opportunities,” Alliant said in its filing.

In response, Gallagher denied the accusations and said Alliant was putting on a “masterclass in deflection.” Gallagher said it needed the court to intervene before it suffered “irreparable harm.”
