Amazon Care Is Expanding In-Person Medical Services to 20 Additional Cities

February 8, 2022

Amazon said it will be expanding its in-person health care service locations accessed through its virtual Amazon Care unit to more than 20 additional cities this year.

Amazon Care’s virtual tele-health service for video-chats with doctors and pharmacy services, which the company piloted with its own employees, is now already available nationwide.

The in-person medical clinics service is also already available in locations in Seattle, Baltimore, Boston, Dallas, Austin, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Arlington. Now, in 2022, Amazon plans to bring in-person care services to more than 20 additional cities—including San Francisco, Miami, Chicago and New York City.

Amazon Care provides access to urgent and primary care services, including COVID-19 and flu testing, vaccinations, treatment of illnesses and injuries, preventive care, sexual health, and prescription requests and refills. When issues can’t be resolved over video, Amazon Care will dispatch a nurse practitioner to a patient’s home for additional care where in-person care is available, ranging from routine blood draws to listening to a patient’s lungs.

Businesses can contract with Amazon Care to offer it as a workplace benefit. Amazon said its new customers include Silicon Labs, TrueBlue and Whole Foods Market.

“Patients are tired of a health care system that doesn’t put them first. Our patient-centric service is changing that, one visit at a time,” said Kristen Helton, director of Amazon Care, in the announcement.

The country’ second largest employer is already also delivering prescription medications through its online pharmacy, Haven.
