Pancoast to Head Ironshore’s E&S Primary Casualty

Adam Pancoast has been named to lead the excess and surplus Primary Casualty business of Ironshore, a Liberty Mutual company. As national manager, E&S Casualty, Pancoast, who is based in Atlanta, is responsible for all aspects of strategy, appetite, product innovation and distribution.

Pancoast, who most recently served as regional vice president, senior underwriting manager, has more than 13 years of experience with Liberty Mutual and Ironshore. He will report to Toby Smith, Liberty Mutual Global Risk Solutions president, North America Specialty Environmental and U.S. Casualty,

In addition to Pancoast, Smith’s E&S team includes Diana Cossetti, who leads national E&S Excess, Energy and Rail operations, and Steve Chiascione, principal risk engineer.

Coggins Becomes President of the American Academy of Actuaries

Maryellen Coggins of Boston, Mass., has begun a one-year term as president of the 19,500-member American Academy of Actuaries, succeeding 2020–21 Academy President Thomas Campbell.

Coggins, who is a managing director, risk and capital management services, at PwC in Boston, previously served as a member of the Actuarial Standards Board for six years and as the Academy’s vice president, risk management and financial reporting.

During the Academy’s presidential transition ceremony, Coggins called for a renewed commitment to service amid the many changes affecting U.S. society and the U.S. actuarial profession. “Change and renewal can be allies in our work,” Coggins said, adding that “when other actuaries—including younger actuaries—and those we serve through the Academy see new energy and ideas brought to the table, they will more clearly see the value of our work and the meaning of the Academy’s mission.”

McLean Joins Lockton Product Recall Practice

Lockton announced that Natasha McLean will lead its National Product Recall and Accidental Contamination Risk Consulting Practice. In this role, McLean will provide overall leadership, strategy and development of product offerings and work with both Lockton’s local experts and its London product recall team.

McLean joins Lockton from Willis where she was a member of the National Product Recall Team. She brings experiences from both the underwriting and national broker areas to this role.
