Military family-focused insurer USAA is expanding its SafePilot program to seven additional states, bringing the total where the telematics program is available to 23.

The new states are Alabama, Colorado, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma and Utah.

The USAA SafePilot app rewards safe driving habits while lowering insurance premiums. Members who enroll in SafePilot are now eligible for initial policy discounts up to 10% for signing up for the program, and continued policy discounts up to 30% for safe driving behaviors.

USAA recently shared that SafePilot enrollments grew over 200% in 2020, and that nearly half of the new policyholders in states where the program is available opted-in to the program.

SafePilot is currently available in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia, and is launching in most states throughout 2021 to accommodate growing demand.

In addition to discounts, members may be eligible for extra savings by bundling their auto and homeowners’ insurance.

San Antonio, Texas-based USAA is among the leading providers of insurance and other financial services to members of the U.S. military, veterans and their families.

The company also recently announced an expansion into the small business insurance market for the first time. In January, it began offering small business policies in five states – Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, South Carolina and Tennessee. Plans call for an ongoing rollout to other states through 2021.
