Hathaway to Lead RT Specialty Transportation; Beecher Named President at Interstate

Doug Hathaway has been appointed as head of RT Specialty’s National Transportation Practice as well as its commercial transport program: Interstate Insurance Management (Interstate). Hathaway has served as chief underwriting officer at Interstate since February 2020. Prior to that he was niche president of transportation at ProSight Specialty Insurance.

Dennis Beecher will be promoted to president of RT Specialty Johnstown, Penn. He previously worked for Interstate as senior transportation underwriter.

Jack Buchan, president and CEO of Interstate, will be retiring June 30, 2021. Buchan spent nearly three decades in commercial transportation underwriting and management and had served as president of Interstate since 1991. Over the course of his insurance career, he served as a director of a transportation insurance company and as president of multiple premium finance and insurance software development companies. Prior to his insurance career, Buchan spent 10 years as a civil trial lawyer where he specialized in insurance defense and product liability litigation.
