Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford Launch MGA for Lumber, Building Materials Market

January 27, 2015

Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford (CGSC) Group North America has launched The Insurance Center for Building Materials (ICBM), a new managing general agency addressing the risks associated with lumber and secondary forest products companies, as well as building materials manufacturers and distributors.

Offered through Swett & Crawford wholesale brokers and directly to retailers in the United States, the ICBM program offers full-scale underwriting for general liability, commercial automobile, for property up to $100 million with more available through the program, plus umbrella coverage up to $25 million. ICBM also offers employment practices liability (EPLI), earthquake, and workers compensation coverage. With exception of the auto coverage, ICBM’s coverage forms and policies are offered on the Scottsdale Insurance Co. paper, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nationwide.

ICBM is led by Jamie Taylor, Bill Osborne & Paul Utrecht. Their 70+ years of combined experience serving the lumber and building materials market includes building leading lumber-specific carriers and developing practices within AIG, Cincinnati Insurance Co., Liberty Ram, CNA, Employers Re and USF&G.

“We have been writing since mid-December and our target accounts are well-maintained, family-owned businesses that are trusted names in their community,” said Jamie Taylor, managing director of ICBM. “These consist of hardware retailers and distributers, lumber yards, wood/wood products and building materials distributors and manufacturers.”

ICBM serves a super-regional, regional, statewide and local broker market.
