Great American, Kapatoes Insurance to Partner on Retail Health Store Program

February 3, 2014

Great American Insurance Group’s Alternative Markets Division has teamed with Kapatoes Insurance Services to offer specialized insurance to retail health food and vitamin stores. The new offering through Great American’s Elite Programs model will kick off on April 1, 2014.

According to Richard Suter, divisional vice president of marketing for Great American, Kapatoes Insurance Services specializes in health food stores, vitamin stores and natural food cooperatives in the United States.

Great American Insurance Group’s Alternative Markets Division flagship product is the agency captive, a risk-sharing model designed for retail agents who wish to take risk on their own business as an alternative to traditional profit-sharing. Alternative Markets also offers association and group captive solutions, as well as Elite Programs, a non-captive model that enables retail agents with an established industry niche to turn an existing book of business into an exclusive specialty program.

Products are underwritten by Great American Insurance Co. of New York, Great American Alliance Insurance Co. and Great American Assurance Co., which are licensed in all 50 states and the District of Columbia and are members of Great American Insurance Group. Based in Cincinnati, the operations of Great American Insurance Group are engaged primarily in property and casualty insurance, focusing on specialty commercial products for businesses, and in the sale of traditional fixed and fixed-indexed annuities in the retail, financial institutions, and education markets.
