NAMIC Names Hair New Federal Affairs Director
John Hair, a veteran lobbyist with nearly eight years of experience, is joining the Washington, D.C., office of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC), a trade association representing property/casualty insurance companies.
Hair has been named as NAMIC’s newest federal affairs director. He will focus on reauthorization of the Terrorism Reinsurance Insurance Act and protecting recent reforms to the National Flood Insurance Program.
“The government may shut down but NAMIC continues to work on behalf of our members, and John will be a key part of our efforts,” said Jimi Grande, senior vice president of federal and political affairs for NAMIC. “As many in Congress are hearing now, there are some things that Congress cannot let fall by the wayside. Protecting the economy from the threat of terrorism through TRIA and ensuring that a healthy NFIP will be there for communities affected by flooding are part of those obligations.”
Hair, 33, comes to NAMIC from the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, where he served as director of government relations. He also previously worked at Carrying Capacity Network and at the Florida-based law firm Aylstock, Witkin & Sasser, PLC.
NAMIC represents 1,400 property/casualty insurance companies.
