Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Hires Markel IT Exec as Chief Information Officer
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance — the recently launched commercial P/C insurance unit of Berkshire Hathaway — hired James Roser as chief information officer. He is based in Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance’s main office in Boston.
Roser was most recently IT head of global insurance, global reinsurance and associated infrastructure at Markel Inc.
Roser was previously vice president at Alterra Capital, which Markel acquired earlier this year. Before that, he spent nearly 10 years at The Travelers in various roles, including vice president of information systems, chief information officer for bond and financial products business and commercial insurance program office/merger integration lead. He also worked in the insurance and financial services practice at Accenture, a global technology and business process consultancy.
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance underwrites on the paper of Berkshire Hathaway’s National Indemnity group of companies. Based in Boston, it has regional underwriting offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.
