Boehner to Address Agents Before D.C. Lobbying Day

January 26, 2011

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) will give the keynote address to members of the Big “I” during the group’s annual D.C. conference later this year.

Boehner is scheduled to speak on Thursday, April 14, hours before state groups of members from the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America fan out across Capital Hill to lobby their congress members, senators and their staffs on issues relevant to the independent agency system.

More than 1,000 agents are expected to participate in the Capitol Hill event, an annual one for the Big “I”. This year’s conference is scheduled from April 13 to 15.

“We’re looking forward to hearing his insights on the implementation of the new health care law, tax and spending issues, financial services regulation and other important topics facing our members, their businesses and the American economy,” Robert A. Rusbuldt, Big “I” president and CEO.

Among the issues atop the Big “I”s agenda this year: health care reform, an extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), insurance regulatory reform, agent licensing reform, the Federal Crop Insurance Program (FCIP).
