Smith to Retire as President of Arbitration Forums

D. Kay Smith will retire as president and chief executive officer of Arbitration Forums, Inc. (AF) in April of next year after more than 10 years as president of the organization.

During Smith’s tenure, the Tampa-based AF grew to be the largest arbitration service organization in the country, resolving nearly 470,000 inter-insurance company disputes in 2006, with a claim value of more than $2.2 billion.

Smith directed AF’s expansion into electronic services, developing the company’s first Web-based product, E-Speed Filing and its latest the E-Subro Hub. This initiative expanded AF’s offerings beyond traditional arbitration services by providing customers with a single web-based platform from which they can respond to subrogation demands, as well as file and respond to arbitration cases.

Prior to joining AF in 1997, Smith held executive positions at CNA/Continental Insurance Co., including executive vice president – Continental Risk Management Services and vice president – contract services.

The AF board of directors is forming a selection committee to search for a new president and CEO.
