Tropical Storm Hermine Heads for Northeastern U.S.
Although Tropical Storm Hermine is currently around 450 miles (720 kms.) off the coast of North Carolina, its projected path puts it on a course for the Northeastern U.S. by later this week.
Hermine isn’t a hurricane, but it still packs 45 mph (75 km/h) winds and has the potential to drop a lot of rain if it comes ashore.
The National Hurricane Service in Miami reported that Hermine is currently about 590 miles (950 km.) South of Chatham Massachusetts, and is “moving toward the north-northwest near 14 mph (22 km/hr.) A gradual turn toward the north and then northeast and an increase in forward speed is expected in the next 24 hours.”
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 kms.) from the center.
