Canter, Grau Elected to IIABA Officer Posts
The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America’s (IIABA) National Board of State Directors confirmed Louise C. “Bebe” Canter as the association’s president-elect and elected Thomas A. Grau, as vice president. The Board nominated Canter and Grau, members of IIABA’s Executive Committee, at its mid-year meeting last week.
Canter, senior vice president of Patterson/Smith Associates, Falls Church, Va., was elected to the Executive Committee in September 1998. She is the first woman to be elected to IIABA’s top leadership panel and if approved by the membership will become the first woman president of the organization in 2003.
Grau, a sales executive with Payne Financial Group in Billings, Mont., was elected to the Executive Committee in September 1999.
Canter, after receiving approval of the membership, and Grau will assume their new posts at IIAA’s InfoXchange Sept. 21-24 in New Orleans, La. Canter and current President-Elect W. Cloyce Anders are to be sworn in as president-elect and president, respectively, during the New Orleans InfoXchange’s closing general session.
